The Rising Floor

The 3-cylinder hydraulic pump made by the Glenfield Co., Kilmarnock, Scotland, around 1895, that charges up the hydraulic reservoir to power the rising floor.

The original 19th Century DC electric motor by the Faraday Electric Co. of Glasgow that drove the hydraulic pump. It took 30A at 50V and was driven from batteries in the "1896 Building" next door. Replaced by an AC motor in the 1920s.
